Script For Introduction Video

I created the first draft of the 1-minute introduction video script tonight, as well as a very rough storyboard to be used as a reference.

Countdown: 31 days. I’ve been planning the Kickstarter videos for a while now. We’ll create a 1-minute introduction video for the top of the page and then a 5-10 minute game play video displayed in the main content area. I finished the first draft of the introduction video script tonight and created a very rough storyboard.

Here’s the script; I’d love to hear any feedback!

The harvest is in, and the artisans are hard at work preparing for the upcoming festival. Decorate the palace lake with floating lanterns and compete to earn the most honor before to become the most honored artisan when the festival begins.

Lanterns: The Harvest Festival is a tile-placement game for 2-4 players that plays in around 30 minutes. When you place a tile, all players (you and your opponents) receive a lantern card corresponding to the color on the side facing them. Place carefully to earn cards and other bonuses for yourself, while also looking to deny your opponents. When you have a set of cards — three pairs, for example, or all seven colors — you can dedicate the set to gain honor for your family.

Lanterns will be the second game from Foxtrot Games, but the harvest festival won’t begin without your support. Learn more on the campaign page, pledge to get the game at a great value, and help us make Lanterns: The Harvest Festival a reality.

You can watch my rough (very rough!) storyboard with this script below. For the opening sequence, I’m imagining a smooth zoom out with lanterns fading in. I have a couple of places with a Relic Expedition box and components, which will be replaced with something similar for Lanterns.

I would have liked to have this done before Gen Con, but it is hard for me to do creative work like writing a script when there is so much non-creative work (ordering flyers and banners, printing prototypes, scheduling meetings, etc.)  to be done. I talked with the person doing the video earlier this week, and he felt like there should still be time.
